The Second Chance Program is a small pet rescue that helps small pets find new homes when their current situation changes. We offer small pet surrender and adoption services. It’s a judgment-free space. Life happens, and we’re here to support both pets and their humans.
We were once contacted by someone in need of help, and the experience was incredibly heartwarming. It reminded us of the power of compassion and how important it is to create a safe space for people to reach out. We believe in kindness above all, and this is one small way we can offer that to others.
Yes! We own and run Forest City Rats. The Second Chance program started as a division of FCR, but have now become it's own brand. Unlike our rattery, Forest City Rats, the Second Chance Program focuses on rehoming pets in unique circumstances. These pets are not bred or sold, and the adoption process is more structured to ensure they are placed safely and responsibly.
The Second Chance Program is independently owned and operated by the same people behind Forest City Rats. Our names are Haley and Brian.
The Second Chance Program is designed to support pets who genuinely need new homes due to unavoidable or serious circumstances. To ensure we can help those most in need, this program is not intended for:Individuals who have simply changed their minds about owning a petTemporary care, fostering, or “holding” situationsPet sitting or boarding requestsAll animals accepted into the program are considered fully surrendered, meaning ownership is permanently transferred to us and the animal will be placed for adoption when ready. We understand that life can be unpredictable, but due to limited space and resources, we must prioritize urgent and genuine surrender needs.
We are located in London, Ontario, Canada. Our address is 60 Dakin Street. The Second Chance Program is run out of our home, so visitors are not permitted. Adoption and surrender is done by pickup appointment only.
There is plenty of street parking out front of our house. Please be considerate and do not use or block neighbouring driveways if you have an appointment with us.
The Second Chance Program is independently owned and operated by Haley and Brian. We are not-for-profit.Every donation, supply contribution, and adoption helps offset the costs of veterinary care, food, bedding, enrichment, housing, and other essential expenses for the animals in our care.
